Autism Caregiver Support Group

Online Faith‑Informed Support Groups from Lutheran Family Service

Families caring for a child diagnosed with Autism often carry both deep love and deep challenges. Lutheran Family Service is here to walk with you. We provide a welcoming community where parents and caregivers can find encouragement, practical support, trusted information, and Christ-centered hope alongside others who understand the realities of raising a child with autism — all through an LCMS theological lens

These groups will meet online at Noon on the first Tuesday of the month.

Why These Groups Matter

Parenting a child with autism can sometimes feel isolating. Families often navigate school systems, therapies, social situations, family dynamics, and daily challenges that others may not fully understand.

This group offers a supportive environment where caregivers can:

  • Connect with other parents and caregivers
  • Share experiences and learn from one another
  • Receive practical guidance and resources
  • Explore healthy ways to care for themselves while caring for their child
  • Find encouragement rooted in Scripture and the promises of Christ
  • Gain confidence in navigating the unique needs of their family

Each session includes discussion, shared experiences, practical insights, and faith-informed encouragement.

Autism Caregivers Support Group

Led by: Janel Lincoln, LMSW — LFS Mental Health Counselor

This group serves parents and caregivers seeking guidance, clarity, and Christian support as they care for a child with an autism diagnosis.
We will explore topics such as:

  • Understanding clinically supported autism traits
  • Navigating school, home, and community supports
  • Avoiding common misconceptions and online misinformation
  • Strengthening family relationships and communication
  • Caring for yourself while caring for your child
  • Anchoring your hope in Christ while facing daily challenges

Description: Parenting a child with an autism diagnosis can bring deep love, unique joys, and significant challenges that may feel isolating or overwhelming at times. This 6-week parent support group is designed to provide a Christ-centered space where parents can receive care, encouragement, and support alongside others walking a similar path.

Grounded in the assurance of God’s faithfulness, the group will offer opportunities for shared reflection, prayerful support, and honest conversation about the realities of parenting a child with autism. Participants will be encouraged to care for both their children and themselves, remembering that God meets us with grace in our limitations and sustains us in our calling as parents.

While this group is not therapy, it is facilitated by a professional who offers guidance, perspective, and resources within a compassionate, faith-informed environment. This group is intended for parents seeking connection, hope, and reassurance rooted in Christ as they navigate the challenges and blessings of caring for their child.
