Consider joining our Birth Mom Virtual Support Group!
Making a loving adoption plan for your baby is not easy. It takes a lot of love and strength. Following the adoption, grief may hit you hard. You may feel alone or uncomfortable talking about it with others who can’t relate. That’s where the beauty of technology comes in. This group will be virtual, and will connect you with women that have also placed a baby for adoption. You can relate to them, learn from them, and have their support.
This Birth Mom Virtual Support Group is for any woman that has voluntarily placed their baby for adoption (not a DHS removal situation). Even if you didn’t place your baby for adoption through Lutheran Family Service, we would love to have you join this support group. If you’re not currently facing emotional struggles, we encourage you to join this group to share your experiences with other women looking for ways to better cope and heal.
This virtual support group will meet once a week for 4 weeks from 1:00PM to 2:00PM via Zoom.
Topics that will be discussed:
The Birth Mom Virtual Support Group will be facilitated by Janel Lincoln, Momtalk Coordinator for Lutheran Family Service. Janel has worked in the field of social work for over 20 years. Throughout these years and the various programs she coordinates, she’s worked with birth moms, at-risk moms and their children, teens and their parents, special education students, and autistic children and their parents. She has a passion to serve and learn more about the adoption process and how to best serve our birth moms.
“Adoption isn’t a birthmother’s rejection but an unconditional love that inspires her to put herself last and do all she can for her baby” — Mary Hines, Birthmother
