Grandparents are a gift and a blessing to our families. Our grandpas and grandmas are some of the greatest resources, wellsprings of history and heritage, and sources of comfort we have in our lives. In many families, grandparents are also the spiritual leaders, committed to teaching their grandchildren about the love of Christ. Their quiet wisdom and weather-worn hands bring a wealth of knowledge, encouragement, truth, and caring to the next generation. Losing a grandparent can be difficult at any age, and it can often be seen as a loss of connection to family, faith, and history — a severance of your support network or relational identity. You may even feel guilty for not having spent more time together. Their lives affected so many people, including your own.
There is heartache. But there is also hope.
