Marital First Responders is a workshop designed to provide you with the skills and resources you need to help a friend who confides in you that they are having problems in their marriage.  Research shows that most people when they are having problems in their marriage will talk about it with a family member, friend, or coworker.  It also shows that most people are not prepared to help their friend’s marriage.  Many people who have attended a Marital First Responders workshop have reported that they not only feel more confident when a friend approaches them about problems that they are having in their marriage but that their own marriage was helped because they attended the workshop!  In this workshop you will learn:

• How to assess the problem
• What to say and what not to say to your friend
• How to be an effective listener
• What are some common problems in marriages
• How to maintain boundaries.
• What research tells us about marital conflict and divorce
• How to give advice and when to refer
• And more!

This workshop will begin at 8:00 AM on Saturday, February 4th at Saint John Lutheran Church, Storm Lake, Iowa and will conclude by Noon.  A free-will offering will be taken.  To register please call 712-732-2400 to register.
