When one is experiencing a personal crisis such as serious marriage problems, it is very difficult to know where to turn for help. Many times, couples wait before doing anything and the end result can be one of the following: divorce, chronic marriage problems, or living with a life time of pain and hurt. A marriage is worth the effort and of course marriage counseling is one of those options, but for the spouse who can’t enlist cooperation from the other spouse, don’t settle! Do something! The stress on pastors has never been light and these days with fewer pastors coming out of seminary the burden is growing. It is not unusual to know several pastors in each district of our church who are now serving three parishes. Quite a few serve either two congregations with many acting as chaplains for various emergency services organizations or other ministry enterprises in addition to serving a congregation. While the increasing volume of work isn’t necessarily bad, it is essential that these extra efforts are recognized for the good that the Lord does through them and that the pastors are encouraged and supported as they take on the extra load.

In this complicated, fast-paced, everchanging world, it’s important to have at least one person you can fully trust to hear, understand and help when needed. If you have that person in your life, thank God for them for you are indeed blessed. But many don’t have that person, and even for those who do, there are times and situation when more help is needed. That’s when a Christian counselor can be most helpful. Talking with a counselor can be life-changing, and sometimes life-saving for you or someone you love who is suffering.
