On Tuesday, April 11, oral arguments were heard by the Iowa Supreme Court in the case of Planned Parenthood vs. Reynolds regarding abortion restriction. This important case involves the heartbeat law passed by the Iowa Legislature and signed by Governor Reynolds in 2018. The heartbeat law banned little boys and girls in the womb if a heartbeat was detectable. Sadly, the law was immediately enjoined by the court not allowing it to be enforced.

Because our society and culture continue to drift away from Christianity, the word “Lutheran” can be intimidating. We don’t want to keep women from seeking us out for any reason – most especially something as simple as our name!
With this in mind, Lutheran Family Service launched Many Hearts Unplanned Pregnancy Support this spring. As to budgetary needs, Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lone Rock was the earliest to answer the call with a distribution from their congregational endowment.

Under the best of circumstances, losing a loved leads to a rollercoaster of emotion creating natural and normal responses such as feeling down and depressed, anger, denial, bargaining, and acceptance. While these are normal in any circumstance of grief, the pandemic has influenced our grieving process significantly.

The Protect Life Amendment, drafted, polled, and expertly scrutinized following a rouge Iowa judge’s decision to declare a right to abortion was “found” within our Iowa Constitution, is in eminent danger of dying in the Iowa House of Representatives. Your actions now will make the difference.
