What is your professional background?

I bring over 20 years of counseling experience to the team providing individual, couple, and family therapy. I specialize in helping people with anxiety, depression, anger, stress, grief, relationship issues, bipolar and mood disorders, life transitions, and couples experiencing marital issues. I’m trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, EMDR, DBT, Marriage Counseling, CISM debriefings and PCIT to help promote change and navigate difficult circumstances that life and relationships bring.

What initially drew you to the mental health field?

I always knew that I wanted to be a therapist. It truly has been my calling in life from 8 years old on. I always wanted to help and serve others and enjoy seeing them progress and be able to live a happier healthier life.

What brought you to serve with Lutheran Family Service?

I felt a strong desire to pursue Christian counseling more fully. I wanted to become a part of the Lutheran Family Service ministry team so that I could serve the Lord and openly speak about God’s grace while assisting people using mental health therapy in the Manning community and throughout Iowa.

How does your faith inform your practice?

I have this career only because of God and His guidance that encouraged me since childhood to pursue this career. Faith is not only very important to me and how I cope with life, but through my practice, I have concluded that often people who seek therapy services do so when they have ‘lost’ faith or don’t have faith. Therefore, they struggle to cope with life’s challenges.

What do you want people to know most about their counseling experience with you?

My goal is to help you feel at-ease and confident in finding solutions during your difficult personal circumstance. The Christian perspective we offer at LFS provides a safe place to process issues, and to incorporate faith into the healing process.
