Join us in welcoming Rev. Mike Moreno to the Lutheran Family Service ministry team!

Rev. Mike Moreno, PMHP, PMSW provides mental health and marriage counseling to the Norfolk, NE and surrounding areas. As a counselor, Mike offers help to individuals who struggle with trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, addictions, substance abuse and more as well as couples experiencing relationship and marital issues.

Mike brings twenty-eight years of pastoral counseling experience and eighteen years of Navy chaplaincy counseling experience. Mike’s unique background enables him to offer a wide range of expertise to a variety of clients, and also specialize in areas that relate to active military and veterans such as assimilating back into society, PTSD, and more.

“I very much enjoyed my work with families throughout my pastoral career,” shared Mike. “I was then mobilized to Wounded Warrior Battalion at Camp Pendleton, CA. There, I worked with many Marines as a Chaplain, and also saw them work with therapists. Within a matter of weeks, I could see significant and positive changes in Marines with PTSD. They rediscovered their joy and had a refreshed outlook on life. I knew then I wanted to do counseling work!”

When asked why he chose to join the Lutheran Family Service team, Mike said, “Obviously as a pastor, faith was foundational. But also as a clinical social worker, my faith remains foundational. Lutheran Family Service does not ask me to “mute” my faith, but celebrates my faith as a gift to give to others.”

“Each client I meet is a blood bought child of God. They have immense value and worth because they are created in God’s image. And God through His will, brings these people to my door that I might serve them. That is an incredible opportunity, an incredible responsibility, and an incredible blessing to both me and to the client,” expresses Mike.

The public is invited to come meet Mike Moreno at an upcoming open house. Two open houses will be held at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 2420 W Omaha Ave, Norfolk. The first will be on Wednesday, May 15 from 10:00AM to 11:00AM in collaboration with the Norfolk Chamber of Commerce. The second will be on Sunday, May 19 from 11:30AM to 12:30PM.
